Calvary Chapel of Susanville was formed as a fellowship of believers based on the centrality of Jesus Christ and His Word.
One of the distinctive characteristics of Calvary Chapels in general, and Calvary Chapel of Susanville in particular is our relaxed, casual style of ministry. We depend upon Jesus to build His church, and the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us in all truth. Because Jesus is going to build His church, we don’t feel the need, or the pressure to try to draw people in or to try to do what Jesus is already doing. We do incline our ear and our hearts to the Holy Spirit, as much as we don’t want to get ahead of God, we don’t want to lag behind either.
While our “statement of faith” describes what we believe, how this is manifest in our daily practice and operation is what we would attempt to address on this page.
The teaching of God’s Word in an expository manner, book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse is our emphasis and practice, our “style” so to speak.
The book Calvary Chapel Distinctives by Pastor Chuck Smith very much describes our philosophy of ministry. We have not been pressed into a “Calvary Mold” as much as I’ve personally listened to Pastor Chuck’s teachings on these subjects and I find myself in agreement with them. These same teachings were subsequently captured within the book and detail the practices of the church in the book of Acts, which is what the church is meant to be.
We hope to provide an environment in which the teaching of God’s Word can be received and exercised. We seek to provide age appropriate instruction for adults and children.
